TERMS, CONDITIONS AND LIABILITIES close

1. The quotation acceptance and payment of booking deposit will be treated as a go ahead to process the reservations and block arrangements. It also implies that you have carefully reviewed the choice of hotels and services offered in your holiday package and agreed to Terms and Conditions, mentioned on our website.

2. Specific room types, smoking preferences & bedding types for Double/Twin rooms cannot be guaranteed and are subject to availability at the time of check in. If you expect to arrive late, please contact the hotel and inform them of your arrival time. Failing to inform the hotel of a late arrival can result in the space being released. BucketmyList is not liable to any refunds in case of early checkouts or unused services.

3. Additional hotel services fees must be paid to the hotel directly. We are not responsible for hidden hotel fees and have no control over their implementation.

4. No-shows & cancellations will be assessed as per the Hotel/Flight/Transport rules & regulation as applicable. You may refer to our cancellation policies for more details.

5. Amendments are always subject to availability and extra cost as per the service given. All cancellations and amendments must be informed via e-mail, and must be confirmed back by us. Please note no cancellations or amendments are accepted on the day of the arrival.

6. During Christmas, New Year, Easter, Fairs, Conferences & Public holidays, rules for cancellation changes and will be charged as per the hotel policy.

7.We reserve the right to use an alternate accommodation or airfare of an equal or higher standard. In case of any unprecedented hike in airfare, hotel charges or other service charges, the same will be levied extra.

8. The time schedule fixed by the local tour operator should be strictly adhered. Tourists will be responsible for any inconvenience, loss or consequence suffered due to their failure to keep the local tour operators timings. No refunds for unutilized service.

10. We advise clients that there might be certain areas whilst overland with no proper connectivity thus the Wi-Fi might be intermittent. Guests need to be aware that when they are going up the mountain signal might get disconnected.

11. We work as an intermediary and do not own, control or operate any airlines, hotel, transport or any other facility or service mentioned in the travel voucher or the itinerary. We take care in selecting all the ingredients in your holidays, and put best of our effort to give you best in class services possible. Because we only select and inspect them and have no control or running them we cannot be responsible for any type of inefficiency on the part of service provider. BEST TIME TO VISIT

Varying climates and wildlife opportunities make South Africa a year-round destination. Summers, which range from November to February welcome you with hot, dry weather in 'The Cape', while the northern regions can be rainy and are perfect for birding. July to November is the best time for whale watching, while winters, which range from May to September bring superb conditions for viewing big game.

Currency

South Africa's unit of currency is the Rand, which comes in denominations of R10, R20, R50, R100 and R200; and coins come in 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, R1, R2 and R5. With a favourable exchange rate, South Africa is credited as an inexpensive destination. Banks and ATM machines are easily available, and they accept all major credit and debit cards.

Travel

What type of clothes do I pack?close

South Africa is overall a very casual country, with warm, windy days and chilly nights. Jeans, shirts, sneakers, sandals, blouses, pants and skirts are fine for everyday wear. Formal to semi-formal attire is worn to expensive restaurants and clubs but casual wear is accepted at most restaurants, pubs and bars. However, keep in mind that majority of clubs do not accept guests in sport shoes. For the beach, you can wear a full or two piece bathing suit.

Am I supposed to tip? If so, how much?close

In South Africa, tipping is customary for good service. You may tip your porter R5 per item, taxi drivers 10% of the bill, waiters and waitresses 10-15 % of the bill, petrol station attendants R2 and other official and unofficial attendants whatever small change you can.

Is it safe to drink the tap water? close

Yes, you can drink the tap water in South Africa, but if you want, there’s always bottled mineral water!

What kind of temperatures should I expect?close

Average temperature range from a minimum of 14 °C to a maximum of 28 °C. However, under extreme circumstances, temperatures can get as hot as 36°C and as low as 5°C or below zero. Please check with your trip crafter for more details.

What penalty will I face for smoking outside designated smoking areas?close

If you light up outside your smoking zone in South Africa, you can be fined R500.

Do I need a yellow fever inoculation before entering South Africa?close

A yellow fever inoculation and certificate from travellers over a year of age coming from an infected area, is an official requirement.

Do I need to take malaria precautions for South Africa?close

Not really. Most parts of South Africa are malaria-free. But if you’re still worried, you can consult your doctor or minimise the risk by wearing mosquito repellent and sleeping under a mosquito net. 

What clothes and shoes should I wear when visiting sites?close

This depends on which site and at what time of the day you are visiting. However ensure that you??e covered well enough to protect yourself from sun burn. Wear light cotton clothes and comfortable shoes. We advise you against wearing open toed shoes and high heels as you might hurt your foot or your heels may break.

What traditional food should I try in South Africa?close

South Africa boasts fresh produce, meat, fruit, cape wines, local beers, and seafood. When in South Africa definitely try Sosaties (a type of kebab), Bobotie (curried mince), Biltong (seasoned dried meat), Potjiekos (a slow cooked casserole) and their traditional beer – Umqombothi.

- Customers to make requests of special diets, if any, on the booking form. However, it is unrealistic to expect special diets to be catered for in some of the destinations we feature. We shall advise our suppliers of your request well in advance but will not be able guarantee the availability especially in the hotel/cruise/during excursions; however, we shall try our level best. Also, we cannot guarantee the authenticity of its taste, the taste might vary. If you have an airborne nut allergy you must make us aware at the time of booking as most airlines require this information in advance of travel.

- Most rooms may not be equipped with tea and coffee maker and carrying personal kettle is not allowed either. Cooking inside the room is strictly prohibited and may lead to penalty.

- A doctor’s signature on the BML medical form is mandatory for all travellers over the age 70.

- As hotels / Flights / Itinerary / Route are subject to change without notice; unfortunately no compensation will be paid for changes you may need to make in your domestic travel.

- We are confident that we offer excellent value for money and constantly monitor our prices to ensure we remain competitive.
