Palm-lined beaches and backwaters await you

From the awesome seashores to the labyrinth of backwater pathways in Alleppey and Kovalam to the fantastic verdant hillside tea gardens in Munnar, Kerala's scenery and points of interest are almost as different and unique as its individuals and the lifestyle and record of the individuals of Kerala is a significant component in gaining the visitors from all over the world. Besides its elegant houseboats, ayurvedic treatments and delicately spiced, taste-bud-tingling cuisine, Kerala is home to wild elephants, exotic birds and the odd tiger, while vibrant traditions such as Kathakali plays, temple festivals and snake-boat races frequently bring even the smallest villages to life. It's hard to deny Kerala's liberal use of the slogan 'God's Own Country'. Come and explore this state with us and strike this one off your bucket list!

BEST TIME TO VISIT

Kerala's climate can be classified roughly into three main categories. From February to May, it is summertime and the climate is generally hot and humid. The southwest monsoons begin in June and continue till the middle of October or the beginning of November. In this season, there is fairly good rainfall without intermission. It is followed by fair weather during December and January. Though, northeast monsoons do being some thunderstorms with rains and linger on till the month of February. However, these spells of rain do not last long but the weather becomes very sultry.

TIPS

Shopping

Largely a consumer state, Kerala has a number of shops selling textiles, gold ornaments and other handicrafts. The mall culture is becoming popular in cities like Cochin, Trivandrum and Thrissur. Traditional Kerala settu mundu and Kasavu sarees can be bought at Kasavukada, a brand name in Kerala Sarees. Handicrafts such as mirrors, wooden boats, Chinese fishing net models, elephants made out of wood etc. are souvenirs you might want to take back. Khataisons and Surabhi on MG Road, Cochin are outlets that sell such handicrafts. Unlike rest of India, there is very little scope for bargaining. Almost all the shops have fixed prices.

Food

The cuisine of Kerala has varieties of vegetarian and non-vegetarian delights. The seafood specialities are something you cannot afford to miss. The Naadan sadya (traditional feast), an all-vegetarian meal, served on plantain leaves is a favourite among both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The food is generally spicy but if you are not fond of spices you can try out the various appams (a fluffy pancake made out of fermented rice flour) which go well with vegetable and meat stews that are low on spices.

- Customers to make requests of special diets, if any, on the booking form. However, it is unrealistic to expect special diets to be catered for in some of the destinations we feature. We shall advise our suppliers of your request well in advance but will not be able guarantee the availability especially in the hotel/cruise/during excursions; however, we shall try our level best. Also, we cannot guarantee the authenticity of its taste, the taste might vary. If you have an airborne nut allergy you must make us aware at the time of booking as most airlines require this information in advance of travel.

- A doctor’s signature on the BML medical form is mandatory for all travellers over the age 70.

- As hotels / Flights / Itinerary / Route are subject to change without notice; unfortunately no compensation will be paid for changes you may need to make in your domestic travel.

These may be subtle or more fundamental, but the impact these can have on your enjoyment is considerable. If you are able to provide a copy of the other proposal (with the name of the tour operator omitted if you prefer) we will compare the arrangements and forward a detailed reply to you.
